I had the opportunity to stay at the One World Hotel at Bandar Utama (Petaling Jaya) twice this year. The great thing about this hotel is that it is connected to the 1Utama Shopping Centre which happens to be the largest mall in Malaysia and 6th largest in the world, meaning there won’t be a shortage of food, things to do (cinema and playland for kids) and shop till you drop if you are so inclined.
2 Bedroom Family Suite
The first time was with my family of 4 so we booked a 2-bedroom family suite. Rate per night was about USD240 (inclusive of 6% tax and 10% service charge) with breakfast.
The rooms are large and lounge area spacious. Both the rooms come with attached bath and widescreen TV. There’s no need to fight if everyone wants to watch different programs as there another TV in the lounge area which has a sofa set, coffee table and a recliner with foot stool. There’s a writing table at the corner away from to TV which suited me fine as I needed to get some things done on the laptop. Wi-Fi was fast enough for what I was doing. Total area is 110 sq m, about the size of a small condo. Very comfortable for family of 4.
Superior Double Room
The second stay was without the children so I booked a Superior room for 2 with breakfast. Rate was about USD100 (inclusive of 6% tax and 10% service charge). The room has a king bed, 2 seater lounge chair, writing table and TV. Room size 40 sq m.
Facilities and Amenities
Rain shower is provided and the water pressure is good. Other amenities include Coffee/tea maker, daily complimentary bottled water and ironing facilities.
The air-con is finicky at best. Airflow is not consistent no matter what temperature I set. And it makes a howling sound when the thermostat cuts in which can be quite irritating in the still of night.
There is also a complimentary shuttle to places of interest like Petronas Towers, Kidzania, Sunway Lagoon and many others. Refer shuttle schedule below:
Buffet Breakfast at Cinnamon Coffee House
Breakfast is served in the Cinnamon Coffee House at the lower lobby from 6.30 am to 10 am. They serve an international buffet and the spread is good although the choice of menu remains largely the same for all the days I was there. Varieties of coffee and tea are available from the coffee machine. Overall it was above average.
